Day-to-Day Training and Workflow
- Come into the Newsroom after story meeting (around 7:00)
- You are welcome to stay in the Newsroom and work or just attend the SE meeting
- Caption doc will be finished during this time.
- Decide which articles will be posted to the Facebook and which will be posted to Twitter
- Find the meta description from the website to use for the captions
- Example:
- If the Meta descriptions aren’t in, you might have to draft the captions yourself
- For tips on how to draft captions yourself, reference this presentation
- You also might have to edit the Meta description caption to adapt it to social media.
- Captions should be completed by 11PM
- Articles that come in after 11PM will be handled by the Managing Editors
- You can schedule them in Facebook Creator Studio and Hootsuite (for Twitter) (see instructions below)
- Don’t include the link unless the story is published (otherwise the link will change)
How to Schedule to Facebook
- Start by finding Facebook Creator Studio
- Stay in the “home” tab
- Always use “post something”
- Copy and paste in link
- This will automatically include a link in the post
- Scroll to the bottom of the post and click on “Share Now”
- Selected the “Schedule” option
- Finally, click “Schedule Post”
- To double check that it was scheduled correctly, go to the “Content Library” tab on Creator Studio
- In “Content Library” you can preview the post by hovering over it and clicking on the three dots
